Jesse is excited to announce a special limited, one time only sale, in which she will be making some of her photographic work available for purchase. Taken in and around Providence, Rhode Island and New York City in the late 80's, these photos were part of her senior degree project while a student at Rhode Island School Of Design where she earned her bachelors of fine art in photography. "With each photograph there will be included a short hand written description which explains what I was trying to capture or, what in hind sight, I realize I did capture. Amazingly, I still don't own a digital camera and back then before photoshop you really had to get the picture when you took it, in terms of the composition. I being a real purist, didn't believe in cropping, so what you see is really what you get!" "Though I have chosen music as my main path of expression over the years, I think people who are fans of my song writing will see in these images the beginnings of my personal creative vision. Relationships to photography and music have changed so much with the digital take over, but for me there is nothing that comes close to the hands-on physical connection that takes place when a photo is coming to life in the darkroom. Silver prints have a three dimensional quality that just doesn't exist with digital ink prints. The way that they hold and reflect the light is just stunning! And, because now everything can be altered in photoshop, the idea of the decisive moment is a notion long forgotten when it comes to taking pictures. I think it's so important to grab moments of life as they really happened. People are so endlessly fascinating, that for me personally there has never been the need to alter or shift reality-i'm still so amazed by things such as moments of pure synchronicty and the alignment of visual metaphors that at times just seem to fall from the sky - they are endless and they are important. My awe of everything constantly reminds me that i am just a beginner all of the time, in everything i do- and I will continue to approach my life with this notion in mind." * All photographs come with Jesse's personal hand written description of the story of the photograph *All Photographs are black and white silver gelatin prints and were hand printed by Jesse on fiber based paper in the late 80's. *Matting and shipping are included in the price of each photograph *Shipping will need a minimum of 2 weeks from the day it is ordered! |
